Lucia Ballerini

Lucia Ballerini was born in Florence in 1966. She has an Electronic Engineering Degree, with a biomedical specialization, at the University of Florence, with the following thesis: "Genetic Algorithms for the Automatic Design of the Topology of Neural Networks" in 1993.
She is a Researcher Doctor in Bio Engineering from the 1998.
During her master, her research has been focused on the image processing methods, with a particular interest on the medical field, and more specifically on the retina's images, acquired with laser devices. Currently she has a position of post doctorate at the Centre for Image Analysis of Uppsala, in Sweden. Se has held a lot of conferences in many countries and has published more than 40 scientific papers, among which there are: "Computational Aids to the Imaging Diagnosis in ophthalmology", Research Doctorate Thesis in Bio Engineering, University of Florence, 1998; "Integration of Retinal Image Sequences", Tescher ed., San Diego, California; "A picture of doctoral studies in Italy", with E. Piazza, Eurodoc 2001, European Conference of Doctoral Students, Uppsala; "Theory and Applications of Image Analysis at the Centre for Image Analysis", 5th Korea-Germany Joint Workshop on Advanced Medical Image Processing, Seoul, 2001. |
She lives and works in Florence and Upsala.
