Antonio Gatti - Requiem |

The composition was suggested by an idea to dedicate an electronic music work to all people of the world, suffering from the war tragedies. The basic sonic register is derived from a human voice by the FM synthesis with entering lamentations and crying of suffering. All presented sounds are inspired by a colour and sonic variations, which only human voice can utter, and they are created by FM synthesis. After the spectral and formant analysis using the filters I looked for similar corresponding frequencies. With the corresponding resonance in various speed of envelops the sounds made by FM synthesis approach the imitation of a human lamentation. In the course of the composition by continuous filtering the electronic sound becomes to prevaile over the human one, still maintaining the lamenting character, derived from the starting voices. It is a grand choral, like a long sigh. Notes by: Antonio Gatti |
